Luv Luv Radio - Back in The Saddle Again
December 02, 2009 07:50 PM PST
This week I'm back in the saddle, doing what I do. As I'm writing this the Grammy nominations have just been announced, so congratulations are in order to all the nominees. This week I came with some soulful/deep house early on, then a mixture of some joints later in the show. As I did last week, I played Reel People's latest "Star" featuring Tony Momrelle. Honestly this song hasn't left my Ipod Shuffle since I first got it. Where do I begin, the samba tinge, Momrelle's vox, the horns, it all works for me, easily a favorite of mine for 09'. Another song I'd like to highlight is "Street Life" Joe Sample & Lalah Hathaway. Of course everyone should know the original, but this cover done some years ago is done well. Last week I had the pleasure of seeing them both together @ Yoshi's in my hometown (Oakland) and was happy to hear them play this. It's been a minute since I've seen Joe Sample and to hear him up close & personal was a treat. Lalah's vocals always seem effortless and with that said, I had a great time. If they ever cross your path, please do partake. Once again thanks for tuning in, and one luv luv. Luv Luv Radio w/DJ Malachi 12/2/09

In my never ending pursuit to give you the best in Soul music and such, this week I'm proud to have the first guest dj on Luv Luv Radio. I'm glad to bring the very talented C.J. Flash to the spotlight. C.J. has been a mainstay in the Bay Area for many years, a veteran if you will. You might recognize him as the tour dj for comedian Katt Williams or maybe you've seen him rock party's with The World Famous Rick & Russ Show (www.rickandruss.net). C.J.'s skills are unquestionable and he's also a wealth of knowledge when it comes down to music. The set he delivers today is "Funk 101", featuring the likes of Graham Central Station, Lakeside, and a Luv Luv Radio favorite, "Glide" by Pleasure. I suggest you follow C.J. on Twitter @AlmightyCJFlash and if you get a chance check him out @ Kitty's in Emeryville every Wednesday night. Happy Thanksgiving and luv luv to all Luv Luv Radio w/DJ Malachi 11/25/09 Muneshine - Love is Love

Great to be back after a one week hiatus for Veteran's Day. I'm a veteran in the sense I've been dj'ing 20+ years, so even I deserve a day, lol. This week on Luv Luv Radio were coming back hard out the gate. This edition I decided to play some 'live" joints for your pleasure. All are stellar performances including the likes of Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Prince, and of course James Brown. The JB joint is from "The Revolution of the Mind: Live at The Apollo 3" album. The song I choose is "Bewildered", (though the whole performance is incredible) featuring his soliloquy on hot pants. This is so classic and funny, yet in still musically, very tight. The band is on point and James' observations are priceless to say the least. CLASSIC LIVE SOUL!!!! Next week stay tuned for a very special treat, peace and luv luv. ps don't forget to follow me on Twitter, @djmalachi Luv Luv Radio w/DJ Malachi 11/18/09 Muneshine - Love is Love (inst)

Alot of great new music on this week's show, highlighted by the last song of the set, Zo!'s cover version of the Jones Girls classic "Nights Over Egypt" featuring Carlitta Durand on vocs. This song is included on Zo!'s new Ep "Just Visiting Too" which is available for FREE at the link below. It's a wonderful collection of cover versions featuring the vocals of Phonte, Yahzarah, Carlitta Durand, Sy Smith & Darien Brockington. Luv Luv Radio approved fa sho. Also this week I dropped some new deep house joints for your liking including a remix of Maxwell's "Bad Habits" done by Mark Alston. I'm usually picky in regards to remixes of slower soulful ballads, but this works for me, kudos. If you get a chance follow me & hit me up on Twitter, www.twitter.com/djmalachi. Have a great week, peace and luv luv Luv Luv Radio w/DJ Malachi 11/04/09 Muneshine - Love is Love

This week I kinda kept things mellow. Nothing uptempo persay, but still great Soul music. "So Natural" by Soulpersona has quickly become a favorite of mine and a few others. Please support and check out the new album by Soulpersona "Soulacoaster", at www.digisoul.co.uk. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Also featured this week is new music from Jaheim, Sa-Ra Creative Partners, & Vikter Duplaix. For any questions, comments, requests etc... hit me on Facebook, www.facebook.com/snacknicholson. This week we had a few requests playlist wise. One was one of my all time favorites "Hip Hop Be Bop" by Man Parrish. Everytime I hear it I wanna breakdance (even though I never really could), luckily for you & I that'll never happen, lol. Also, sorry for the record skipping, but I do this show "live", so things are bound to happen Luv Luv Radio 10/21/09 Muneshine - Love is Love (inst)

Sorry for the delay in getting last week's show up. In my haste, I made a techincal error, but went back and fixed it so wallah. This show has a Bay Area spin for sure, with new music from Goapele, remixed by 106 KMEL's/Pirate DJ's own DJ Mind Motion. He uses the well known Patrice Rushen joint "You Remind Me" as the musical backdrop. It fits the vibe to a tee. Also by way of Ohio we have Oakland residents Chosen Few. Check out their album "New World Symphony" in stores very soon. Lastly, we have new music from Martin Luther. "Superstar" has an old soul feel to it, conscious yet classic. You can follow him on Twitter at @MartianLuther. Once again thanks for tuning in and one luv luv. Luv Luv Radio w/DJ Malachi 10/14/09

Not to sound like a broken record, but thanks to all who've listened & downloaded my show. It truly means so much to me. Music has (and will continue to) taken me on a journey that I could never had imagined. Whether it be bad times or good times, music has never left my side and for that I'm grateful. This week we have a blast from the past, "The Ballad of Mike Jizzles" - 75 Degrees. For those not knowin' I was a member of "75" for many years. This song was from our album "The Last Great Hip Hop Album" (still available on iTunes, plug). It features the vocal stylings of Carl Robertson ("Big C" - Rest in Peace brother) at the end. This is one of if not my favorite song we did. Also heard on this weeks show is the xtra dope remix of "Never Can Say Goodbye" provided by Beatnick & K-Salaam. I'm usually very picky about remixing classic joints, but they knocked it out the park for me on this one. In the coming weeks expect guest mixes from some great dj's, peace and luv luv Luv Luv Radio 10/07/09 Muneshine - Love is Love (inst)

As promised, this week I broke out some soulful house. Since it was a bit chilly or brisk this morning here in Oakland, I thought I needed to make you guys move a bit, get the blood circulating. And I can't think of a better way then some recent soulful house joints. This week we have an exclusive remix from Mark de Clive-Lowe for the title track of Tortured Soul's latest album "Did You Miss Me", guaranteed hotness!!! This should be available very soon on Traxsource, so support. Also we have new music (not house though) from N'dambi with "Can't Hardly Wait". Her new album "Pink Elephant" drops next Tuesday, Oct. 6th, so please go out and support. Till then you can follow her on Twitter, www.twitter.com/ndambi. You can also follow myself as well at www.twitter.com/djmalachi. Have a great week and please hit me up at mpadron75@hotmail.com with any requests, comments, etc... One luv luv. I can't help but feel good when I check to see how many of you have downloaded my shows. Thanks to everyone who has supported my show and good soul music. No matter how I feel sometimes, music always takes me where I need to be and where I need to go and for that I'm thankful. This week we have new music from Amel Larriuex, N'Dambi, & my guy Stevie Mello. You might catch him at a local spot blessing the mic or you might catch him bringing his unique brand of soul overseas. You can listen to more of Stevie Mello at his Myspace page, www.myspace.com/steviemellosmoove. I think I might drop some soulful house joints next week, so stay tuned and one luv luv. Initially as I was doing this week's show I thought to myself, I don't like the way this show is feeling to me. Later in the day as I listened back, I thought, wow this might be my favorite of all the shows so far, funny. This week we have new music from Amerie. She's joined by Trey Songz in the song "Pretty Brown Eyes" which samples the Mint Condition classic of the same name. Another soul gem I stumbled on to was "So Natural" from Soulpersona f/Kia Bennett ("Hi Kia"). Soulpersona is from the UK and the song is a definite "stepper" joint, check them out @ their Myspace page, www.myspace.com/soulpersonamusic. Thank you for letting me share some thoughts and music, it's something I don't take for granted. Peace and luv luv, enjoy. Luv Luv Radio w/DJ Malachi 9-16-09

One of the best things about doing this show is hearing everyone's interpretations/comments regarding the music, me, etc... With that said my dude Tone pulled my card and said you need to "mix" more. Well here you go Tone and everyone else. This weeks show includes a new single from Vikter Duplaix called "Electric Love". His sexy brand of soul is always pleasing and palatable. Also new is "Vibrate On" from Erykah Badu from the Girlfriends (tv show) soundtrack. It's a bit different from her "New Amerykah, Pt. 1: 4th World War" sound, but still "luv"ly. Thank you all for the feedback and comments, keep it coming, one luv luv. Luv Luv Radio w/DJ Malachi 09-09-09

Welcome to the pre Labor Day Edition of Luv Luv Radio. This week I didn't get into mix, but instead just played some great music as always. Special shout to my man D who requested some Roy Ayers. Also lemme say "Hi" to my guys Electric Wire Hustle in New Zealand. I caught wind of them recently, and their music is exactly what Luv Luv Radio is about. Exposing great soulful music to a new audience. They have an album coming out next week (hopefully available on iTunes), and when you get a chance check out their website www.electricwirehustle.com and/or Myspace @ www.myspace.com/electricwirehustle. Enjoy your Labor Day and be safe. Next week I promise to be "in the mix" (@ Tone), maybe even the whole show. Until then peace & luv luv Luv Luv Radio w/DJ Malachi 09/02/09 Muneshine - Love is Love

Thanks to everyone who has supported Luv Luv Radio. Expect greatness in the weeks to come. This week I featured a new track from Usher, "Be" produced by Ryan Leslie. Also in the mix were a couple great remixes from Aaliyah & Erykah Badu. As always thanks for the luv luv, enjoy and tell a friend. Luv Luv Radio w/DJ Malachi 08/26/09

Back at you again with more of that Luv Luv that you so desire. I had a bit a technical difficulties, but I weathered through the storm and made it happen. Featured songs include Darien, "Just Can't Wait" off his album "If These Walls Could Talk". One of the best soul albums I've heard in quite a while, a must have. He'll be in the Bay Area soon, so please go support. Another gem is the live/acoustic version of "Spanish Joint" by D'Angelo. Not sure where this was recorded from, but it definitely makes you long for that new album. Once again, thanks for listening and enjoy. Luv Luv Radio w/ DJ Malachi 8-19-09
